In an effort to expand my portfolio I went back to what I love shooting most, faces. I’m surrounded by some of the most fascinating faces I’ve ever seen, faces of my students.
I had the luxury of having a pseudo studio in my own classroom affording me opportunity and some spontaneity. I light with Arri tungsten fixtures using a 1k par with a Chimera as key, a 300 fresnel with opal as backlight and a flex fill to fill and add highlights to eyes.
Black and white incubates structure and texture, it forces my eye away from the beautiful persuasion of chrominance.
